Lualdi, Adriano

Lualdi, Adriano, Italian composer; b. Larino, March 22,1885; d. Milan, Jan. 8,1971. He was a student in Rome of Falchi and in Venice of Wolf-Ferrari. In 1918 he settled in Milan and was active as a music critic and administrator. As a loyal Fascist, he served as director of the Cons, of San Pietro a Majella in Naples (1936–44). After the fall of the Fascist regime, he was forced to withdraw from public life but later resumed his career and was director of the Florence Cons. (1947–56). Lualdi was best known for his dramatic works.
