Lorenzo da Firenze
Lorenzo da Firenze
Lorenzo da Firenze, Italian composer who was also known as Magister Laurentius de Florentia, Ser Lorenço de Firence, and Sir Laurentius Masii or Masini; b. place and date unknown; d. Florence, Dec. 1372 or Jan. 1373. He may have been a student of Landini in Florence, where he most likely served as canonicus at S. Lorenzo from 1348 until his death. Among his notable extant works are 5 ballate, 10 madrigals, 1 caccia, and a Sanctus. He composed in a bold, experimental style that often reveals the influence of French masters.
