Lopardo, Frank, American tenor; b. N.Y., Dec. 23, 1957. He studied at Queens Coll. and the Juilliard School in N.Y. In 1984 he made his formal operatic debut in St. Louis as Tamino. In 1988 he was engaged as Belfore in II viaggio a Reims at the Vienna State Opera, Ernesto in Don Pasquale in Geneva, Elvino in La sonnambula at the Lyric Opera in Chicago, and Tamino in Dallas. After singing Don Ottavio in San Francisco in 1991, he returned there as Lindoro in 1992 and as Tonio in 1993. In the latter year he portrayed Rossini’s Count Almaviva at the Metropolitan Opera in N.Y. He sang Alfredo at London’s Covent Garden in 1994, and in 1996 he appeared as Lensky in Paris. In 1997 he returned to Chicago as Tamino. In 1999 he returned to the Metropolitan Opera to sing Rodolfo. In addition to his operatic engagements, Lopardo has also sung with many of the leading orchs.
