Lacombe, Paul

Lacombe, Paul, French composer; b. Carcassonne, Aude, July 11, 1837; d. there, June 5, 1927. He studied in Carcassonne with François Teysserre, an organist. He was a prolific composer; his works total more than 150, including Ouverture symphonique (1876), 3 syms. (No. 3 won the prize of the Société des Compositeurs de Musique, 1886), Suite pastorale for Orch., Marche dernière for Orch., Scène au camp for Orch., 3 violin sonatas, Cello Sonata, 3 trios, String Quartet, Mass, Requiem, songs, and characteristic piano pieces.
