Kuebler, David, American tenor; b. Detroit, July 23, 1947. He was a student of Thomas Peck in Chicago and of Audrey Field in London. In 1972 he joined the Santa Fe Opera. Following his European debut at the Bern Opera in 1974 as Tamino, he sang for the first time at the Glyndebourne Festival in 1976 as Ferrando. In 1980 he appeared as the Steersman in Der fliegende Holländer at the Bayreuth Festival. He made his Metropolitan Opera debut in N.Y. on Feb. 4, 1981, as Tamino. From 1987 to 1990 he again sang at the Glyndebourne Festival. After appearing as Don Ottavio in Rome and Madrid in 1989, he sang at the London Promenade Concerts in 1991 in Dvorak’s The Spectre’s Bride. In 1992 he sang Berlioz’s Faust at the Bregenz Festival. He returned to Rome in 1997 to sing Henry in Les Vêpres siciliennes. Among his other roles were Marnante, Nem-orino, Jacquino, Pinkerton, Rodolfo, and Flamand.
