Kittel, Bruno
Kittel, Bruno, German violinist and conductor; b. Entenbruch, near Posen, May 26, 1870; d. Wasserberg, near Cologne, March 10, 1948. He studied in Berlin and played in theater orchs. there. From 1901 until 1907 he was conductor of the Royal Theater Orch. in Brandenburg; also was director of the Brandenburg Cons, (until 1914). In 1902 he established the Kitteische Chor., which quickly developed into one of the finest choral societies of Europe, and with which he made many tours. He was director of the Stern Cons, in Berlin (1935–45).
