Kasianov, Alexander
Kasianov, Alexander , Russian composer; b. Bolobonovo, near Nizhny-Novgorod, Aug. 29, 1891; d. there (Gorky), Feb. 13, 1982. He studied composition with Sokolov at the Petrograd Cons, (graduated, 1917) and piano with Liapunov. In 1918 he went to Nizhny-Novgorod, where he organized radio broadcasts. In 1951 he joined the faculty of the Cons. In his compositions, he continued the tradition of early Russian music, his many choral works being quite effective.
