Jarecki, Tadeusz
Jarecki, Tadeusz, Polish conductor and composer, son of Henryk Jarecki; b. Lemberg, Dec. 31, 1888; d. N.Y., April 29, 1955. He studied with his father, and then with Niewiadomski in Lemberg. He subsequently went to Moscow, where he studied with Taneyev at the Cons., graduating in 1913; also studied with Jaques-Dalcroze in Geneva (1912-13). In 1917-18 he lived in the U.S., then returned to Poland and conducted opera in Stanis-lawow (1932-37). After a sojourn in Paris and London, he returned to the U.S. in 1946. In 1921 he married the American soprano Louise Llewellyn (b. N.Y., Dec. 10, 1889; d. there, March 6, 1954). He publ, the book The Most Polish of Polish Composers: Frédéric Chopin 1810-1849 (N.Y., 1949). Among his compositions are five syms., Chimère, symphonic suite (1926), Sinfonia breve (Lwów, Jan. 15, 1932), three string quartets, and numerous songs.
