Heyther, William [ William Heather] (b Harmondsworth, c.1584; d Westminster, 1627). Eng. musician. Sang in Westminster Abbey choir 1586–1615. Gentleman of Chapel Royal from 1615. Founded mus. lect. at Oxford Univ. 1626–7. Oxford chair of mus. is named after him.
