Hexaméron (Six Parts). 6 variations for pf. on march from Bellini's I Puritani, each written by a different composer-pianist—Liszt, Thalberg, Pixis, Herz, Czerny, and Chopin—with introduction, connecting links, and finale by Liszt. F.p. Paris charity concert 1837, the composers sitting at a pf. apiece and each playing his own variation. Liszt later added orch. acc. and played whole series at recitals.
