Hennig, Carl

Hennig, Carl, German organist, choral conductor, and composer, father of Carl Rafael Hennig; b. Berlin, April 23, 1819; d. there, April 18, 1873. He began to conduct choral groups at an early age, then became a church organist at the Sophienkirche in Berlin. He also was conductor of the Lyra Choral Soc. He wrote a great number of miscellaneous pieces, sacred works, and cantatas, as well as popular dances for piano.
