Härtwig, Dieter
Härtwig, Dieter, distinguished German musicologist; b. Dresden, July 18, 1934. He was a student of Besseler, Serauky, Wolff, and Eller at the Univ. of Leipzig (Ph.D., 1963, with the diss. Der Opernkomponist Rudolf Wagner-Régeny: Leben und Werk; publ, in Berlin, enl. ed., 1965 as Rudolf Wagner-Régeny: Der Opernkomponist} Habilitation, 1970, with his Fidelio F. Finke: Leben und Werk). He was a dramaturg at the theaters in Schwerin (1959–60) and Dresden-Radebeul (1960–65), and then was chief dramaturg of the Dresden Phil, (from 1965). He also was a lecturer (1960-62; 1973-80), Dozent (1980–84), and prof. (1984–91) of music history at the Dresden Hochschule für Musik.
