Grün, Jakob

Grün, Jakob, Austrian violinist and teacher; b. Budapest, March 13, 1837; d. Baden, near Vienna, Oct. 1, 1916. He was a pupil of J. Bohm in Vienna and M. Hauptmann in Leipzig. In 1858 he became a member of the Weimar Court Orch. He went to Vienna in 1868, as concertmaster at the Court Opera (until 1897). From 1877 until his retirement in 1909 he was a prof, at the Vienna Cons.
