Grädener, Hermann (Theodor Otto)
Grädener, Hermann (Theodor Otto), German violinist, conductor, teacher, and composer, son of Carl (Georg Peter) Grädener; b. Kiel, May 8, 1844; d. Vienna, Sept. 18, 1929. He studied with his father, and then at the Vienna Cons. After serving as organist in Gumpendorf (1862-64), he was a violinist in the Vienna Court Orch. (from 1864). From 1877 to 1913 he taught theory at the Cons, of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna, where he also was a prof, at the Univ. from 1882. He wrote the operas Der Richter von Zalamea and Die heilige Zita, 2 syms., a Piano Concerto, a Violin Concerto, a Cello Concerto, and various chamber pieces.
