Godfrey, Isidore

Godfrey, Isidore, English conductor; b. London, Sept. 27, 1900; d. Sussex, Sept. 12, 1977. He was educated at the Guildhall School of Music in London. In 1925 he joined the D’Oyly Carte Opera Co. as a conductor, and from 1929 to 1968 served as its music director. In 1965 he was named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire.
