Galajikian, Florence Grandland, American pianist and composer; b. Maywood, 111., July 29, 1900; d. River Forest, 111., Nov. 16, 1970. She studied at North-western Univ. and Chicago Musical Coll., her teachers being Oldberg, Lutkin, Rubin Goldmark, Carl Beecher, and Noelte. She toured as a pianist. She composed a number of songs that enjoyed favor among sopranos, as well as orch. pieces. Her Symphonic Intermezzo was awarded NBC’s 4th prize, and was performed by the NBC Sym. Orch. on May 8, 1932.
