Franz, Paul (real name, François Gautier)
Franz, Paul (real name, François Gautier), French tenor; b. Paris, Nov. 30, 1876; d. there, April 20, 1950. After private voice studies with Louis Delaquerriere, he made his debut at the Paris Opera in 1909 as Lohengrin. He remained on its roster until 1938, and also appeared at London’s Covent Garden (1910–14). From 1937 he taught voice at the Paris Cons.
