Evangelisti, Franco

Evangelisti, Franco, Italian composer; b. Rome, Jan 21, 1926; d. there, Jan. 28, 1980. He studied with Daniele Paris in Rome (1948–53) and Harald Genzmer at the Freiburg-im-Breisgau Hoschschule für Musik (1953–56). He also attended the Darmstadt summer courses in new music with Eimert and Stockhausen, and worked at the electronic music studios in Cologne and Warsaw. He was active in new music circles in Rome, where he became president of Nuova Consonanza in 1961. He taught there at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia (1968–72), the Conservatorio dell’Aquila (1969–75), and the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia (1974–80). Evangelisti was the author of the book Dal silenzio ad una nuova musica (Palermo, 1967).
