Dunn, Susan

Dunn, Susan, American soprano; b. Malvern, Ark., July 23, 1954. She was educated at Hendrix Coll. in Ark. and at Ind. Univ. in Bloomington. In 1982 she made her operatic debut as Aida in Peoria. After winning the Richard Tucker Award in 1983, she attracted favorable notice as Sieglinde in a concert performance of Act I of Die Walküre at N.Y/s Carnegie Hall in 1985. She subsequently appeared with the Chicago Lyric Opera, the Washington (D.C.) Opera, the Houston Grand Opera, and the San Francisco Opera. In 1986 she made her European operatic debut in Bologna as Helene in Les Vepres siciliennes; also sang Aida at Milan’s La Scala and appeared at the Vienna State Opera. On Feb. 5, 1990, she made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in N.Y. as Leonora in // Trovatore.
