Dunlap, Richard, American pianist, composer, and performer; b. Seattle, Dec. 7, 1939. He studied with Spencer Moseley and Alden Mason at the Univ. of Wash. (B.F.A., 1966; M.F.A., 1968). After moving to Santa Barbara, Calif., in 1969, he became active as a performer; he also was lecturer (1969–72) and asst. prof. (1972–77) at the Univ. of Calif, at Santa Barbara, and a visiting artist at the Univ. of Nev, Las Vegas (1973), the Univ. of Hawaii, Hilo (1974), Ohio State Univ. (1979), Ariz. State Univ. West in Phoenix (1994) et al. Dunlap has performed widely in solo and group performances (“Soundworks” [1978] and “Soundworks 2” [1992], “Intersphere” [1981], and “History of Animals” [1992]), as well as in exhibitions of his own design (“Three for Icarus” [1975], “Of This Time, Of This Place” [1983), “Constructures: New Perimetrics in Abstract Painting” [1985], “V. Forest ’94” [1992], and “In the Spirit of FLUXUS” [1994]). He is married to Arlene Dunlap.
