Dring, Madeleine
Dring, Madeleine, English violinist, pianist, singer, and composer; b. Hornsey, Sept. 7, 1923; d. London, March 26, 1977. She studied violin at the Junior Dept. of the Royal Coll. of Music in London, and also acquired professional skill as a pianist, singer, and actress. She took courses in composition at the Royal Coll. of Music with Ho wells and Vaughan Williams. She developed a knack for writing attractively brief pieces. She also wrote a short opera, Cupboard Love, several trios, a suite for Harmonica and Piano, and incidental music for radio and television.
