Dreier, Per
Dreier, Per, Norwegian conductor; b. Trondheim, Dec. 25, 1929. He studied conducting with Paul van Kempen and Willem van Otterloo at the Royal Cons, of Music in The Hague. He made his debut with the Trondheim Sym. Orch. in 1953. He then was a conductor at the Wurttemberg State Theater at Stuttgart (1953–57) and chief conductor and artistic director of the Arhus Sym. Orch. (1957–73); also served as chief conductor of the Jutland Opera (1957–71). Dreier has done much to promote contemporary Norwegian music.
