Doorslaer, Georges van
Doorslaer, Georges van, Belgian music scholar;b. Mechelen, Sept. 27, 1864; d. there, Jan. 16, 1940. He studied medicine; music was his avocation. In association with Charles van den Borren, he began a detailed study of early Belgian music, becoming particularly interested in the history of the carillon. He wrote numerous articles on Philippe de Monte, and ed. his works with van den Borren (31 vols., Bruges, 1927–39; reprint 1965).
