Divitis (de Ryche, le Riche), Antonius (Antoine)
Divitis (de Ryche, le Riche), Antonius (Antoine), celebrated Flemish composer; b. Lou-vain, c. 1475; d. after 1526. He was a singer and choirmaster at St. Donatien in Bruges (Brugge) from 1501 to 1504. In 1504–05 he was choirmaster at St. Rombaut in Malines, and then was in the service of Philippe le Beau in Brussels. From 1506 to 1515 he was a chapel singer to Louis XII.
Works
Motets and chansons are scattered in collections, e.g., Motetti de la corona (1514), and others printed by Rhaw, Attaignant, etc. At Cambrai is a mass in MS; at Munich, 2 credos and a Salve Regina a 5; at Rome, Quern dicunt homines for 4 Voices.
