Daneau, Nicolas
Daneau, Nicolas , Belgian composer; b. Binche, June 17, 1866; d. Brussels, July 12, 1944. He studied at the Ghent Cons, with Adolphe Samuel, graduating in 1892, and winning the second Prix de Rome in 1895. He was director of the Cons, of Tournai (1896–1919), and of the Cons, of Mons (1919–31). His daughter, Suzanne Daneau (b. Tournai, Aug. 17, 1901; d. there, Nov. 29, 1971), was his pupil. She wrote orch. works, chamber music, and piano pieces, mostly based on native folk songs.
