Couitois, Jean

Couitois, Jean , Franco-Flemish composer who flourished in the first half of the 16th century. He was maître de chapelle at Cambrai Cathedral in 1540, when a four-part motet of his, Venite populi terrae, was performed before Charles V of Spain. His extant works comprise two masses, 14 motets, and 19 chansons.
