Canis, Cornelius or Corneille
Canis, Cornelius or Corneille, Flemish composer; b. Flanders, c. 1515; d. Prague, Feb. 15, 1561. He was in the service of the imperial court by 1542. In 1547 he was made maistre des enfans, and later was maître de chapelle and the retainer of several royal prebends. In 1557 he became chaplain of St. Martin and canon of Notre Dame in Courtrai. His extant works comprise 2 masses, 32 motets, and 29 chansons.
