Buus, Jacques (Jachet de or van Paus; Jacobus Bohusius; Jacob Buus)
Buus, Jacques (Jachet de or van Paus; Jacobus Bohusius; Jacob Buus), Flemish organist and composer; b. c. 1500; d. Vienna, late Aug. 1565. His first publications were 2 French songs, printed in Lyons in 1538. In 1541 he went to Italy and was engaged as asst. organist at S. Marco in Venice. In 1550 he settled in Vienna. He publ., in Venice, 2 books of instrumental Canzoni francese (1543, 1550), 2 books of Ricercari (1547, 1549), and 1 book of Motetti (1549). Several of his madrigals were publ, in various collections of the period, and also reprinted in a number of anthologies.
