Böhm, Georg, German organist; b. Hohenkirchen, Thuringia, Sept. 2, 1661; d. Lüneburg, May 18, 1733. He studied at the Univ. of Jena. He was in Hamburg in 1693, and in 1698 he became organist at the Johan-neskirche in Lüneburg. His organ preludes and harpsichord pieces are exemplars of keyboard works of his time; Bach himself was influenced by Bohm’s style of writing. A complete ed. of Böhm’s work was begun by Johannes Wolgast in 1927 in 2 vols.; a rev. ed. of both vols, was publ, in Wiesbaden in 1952 and 1963, respectively.
