Benucci, Francesco
Benucci, Francesco, famous Italian bass; b. c. 1745; d. Florence, April 5, 1824. He began his career in 1769. In 1783 he went to Vienna, where he created the roles of Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro (Vienna, May 1, 1786) and Guglielmo in Così fan tutte (Vienna, Jan. 26, 1790). He visited London in 1788-89, then lived again in Vienna. In 1795 he returned to Italy.
