Balbi, Lodovico or Ludivico

Balbi, Lodovico or Ludivico, Italian composer; b. Venice, c. 1545; d. there, before Dec. 15, 1604. He was a pupil of Costanzo Porta in Padua (1565–67). He sang in the choir at San Marco in Venice (from 1570), and then was maestro di cappella at S. Maria Gloriosa dei Frari in Venice (1578–82?), at the Cappella Antoniana in Padua (1585–91), at Feltre Cathedral (1593–97), and at Treviso Cathedral (1597–98). He wrote masses, motets, Psalms, madrigals, etc.
