Bach, August Wilhelm

Bach, August Wilhelm, German organist; b. Berlin, Oct. 4, 1796; d. there, April 15, 1869. After a period of organ playing in churches and in concert, he became a teacher at and later director (1832) of the Royal Inst. for Church Music in Berlin. Mendelssohn was his pupil in organ playing.
