Autori, Franco, Italian-born American conductor; b. Naples, Nov. 29, 1903; d. Tulsa, Oct. 16, 1990. After study in Italy, he emigrated to the U.S. in 1928 and became a naturalized citizen in 1936. He conducted at the Chicago Civic Opera (1928–32) and the Dallas Sym. Orch. summer series (1932–34). After serving as a staff conductor with the Federal Music Project in N.Y. (1934–37), he was conductor of the Buffalo Phil. (1936–45), assoc. conductor of the N.Y. Phil. (1949–59), and conductor of the Tulsa Phil. (1961–71).
