The Transporter
The Transporter ★★ 2002 (PG-13)
Short on plot but long on action, this product of the Luc Besson action factory is yet another of the producer's efforts to bring kungfu fightin' to France. Mercenary “delivery man” Frank Martin (Statham) lives by three simple rules: Never change the deal, never exchange names and never look in the package. When one of his packages starts squirming, however, he breaks one of his rules. He opens a duffel bag and discovers beautiful Taiwanese girl Lai (Qi Shu), who reveals a plot involving smuggled Asians used as slave labor. This angers the bad guys, an evil American known as Wall Street (Schulze) and Lai's creepy father Kwai (Young). They send countless henchmen after the heroes, and Martin delivers large amounts of bullets and kicks to the head without once asking anyone to sign for them. Directed by veteran Hong Kong fight choreographer Corey Yuen. 92m/C VHS, DVD, Bluray Disc, UMD . Jason Statham, Shu Qi, Francois Berleand, Matt Schulze, Ric Young; D: Corey Yuen; W: Luc Besson, Robert Mark Kamen; C: Pierre Morel; M: Stanley Clarke.
