This town isn't quiet at all. Michele (Ascaride) works in a Marseilles fish market and then returns to her dingy apartment to care for her junkie prostitute daughter Fiona (Parmetier), the latter's baby daughter, and her own alcoholic husband (Banderet). Taxi driver Paul (Darroussin) pays Michele for sex so she can buy drugs for her daughter from her former lover Gerard (Meylan). There's several subplots, murders, and a suicide.
