Theatre of Blood ★★★ Much Ado about Murder 1973 (R)

Shakespearean ham actor Edward Lionheart (Price) committed suicide after losing an award and being ridiculed by the critics. Now those same critics are being murdered in bizarre ways—in fact, their deaths parallel those in the plays of the Bard. Well, it's no big surprise to discover that Lionheart is indeed alive and committing the inventive crimes with the assistance of his lovely daughter, Edwina (Rigg). Top drawer comedy noir with a great supporting cast of Britain's best (and quite a bit of gore). 104m/C VHS, DVD . GB Vincent Price, Diana Rigg, Ian Hendry, Robert Morley, Dennis Price, Diana Dors, Milo O'Shea, Harry Andrews, Coral Browne, Robert Coote, Jack Hawkins, Michael Hordern, Arthur Lowe; D: Douglas Hickox; W: Anthony Greville-Bell; C: Wolfgang Suschitzky; M: Michael Lewis.
