Strange Relations ★★ 2002

New York shrink Jerry Lipman (Reiser) is diagnosed with leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant. His mother Esther (Dukakis) finally confesses that Jerry was adopted in England and he heads to Liverpool to find his biological mother. That would be tough-talking, working class Sheila (Walters), who has a soft heart and is eager to welcome Jerry into the family. Jerry keeps his cancer a secret—not wanting to admit that's why he sought out his new relatives, especially as he gets closer to them. Walters is the one to watch but Reiser's sarcasm does help to keep the sentiment at bay. 107m/C VHS, DVD . Paul Reiser, Julie Walters, George Wendt, Olympia Dukakis, Amy Robbins, Tony Maudsley, Suzanne Hitchmough, Ian Puleston-Davies; D: Paul Seed; W: Tim Kazurinsky; C: Lawrence Jones; M: Rupert Gregson-Williams.
