A Smile Like Yours
A Smile Like Yours ★½ 1996 (R)
Too-cute yuppie couple Danny and Jennifer (Kinnear and Holly) decide to start a family, only to discover that Danny's “boys” can't swim. Many formulaic and predictable gags about masturbation and the possiblilty of infidelity ensue. Unfortunately, laughs do not. Kinnear comes off as amiable enough, while Holly turns in an aggravatingly over-the-top performance. Thomas and Cusack, as the couple's best friends, fare better than anyone, with the possible exception of scene-stealer Meullerleile as the cranky clinic nurse. Writer/director Samples is the former head of now-defuct Rysher Entertainment (flick's producing company). Coincidence? We think not. 99m/C VHS, DVD . Greg Kinnear, Lauren Holly, Jill(ian) Hennessey, Christopher McDonald, Joan Cusack, Jay Thomas, Donald Moffat, France Nuyen, Marianne Muellerleile; Cameos: Shirley MacLaine; D: Keith Samples; W: Keith Samples, Kevin Meyer; C: Richard Bowen; M: William Ross.
