Out of Sight
Out of Sight ★★★ 1998 (R)
Cerebral director Soderbergh turns up the heat in this fine adaptation (with fine performances) of the Elmore Leonard crime caper. Jack Foley (Clooney) is a charming bank robber with bad luck and three prison terms—his current one being served in a Florida pen from which he escapes with the aid of partner Buddy (Rhames). Even the escape doesn't go as planned since federal marshal Karen Sisco (Lopez) becomes an unexpected (temporary) hostage. Sparks fly between the duo but Karen's still determined to bring Jack to justice, even as he plans his next heist. A heist involving shady financier Richard Ripley (Brooks) that will take Jack and Buddy to Detroit and more complications. 122m/C VHS, DVD, HD DVD .
