A New Leaf
A New Leaf ★★½ 1971 (G)
A playboy who has depleted his financial resources tries to win the hand of a clumsy heiress. May was the first woman to write, direct and star in a movie. She was unhappy with the cuts that were made by the studio, but that didn't seem to affect its impact with the public. Even with the cuts, the film is still funny and May's performance is worth watching. 102m/C VHS . Walter Matthau, Elaine May, Jack Weston, George Rose, William Redfield, James Coco; D: Elaine May; W: Elaine May.
