The Little Thief ★★★ 1989 (PG-13)

Touted as Francois Truffaut's final legacy, this trite minidrama is actually based on a story he co-wrote with Claude de Givray about a postWWII adolescent girl who reacts to the world around her by stealing and petty crime. Truffaut's hand is markedly absent, but this film is a testament to his abruptly and sadly truncated career. Director Miller was Truffaut's longtime assistant. French with subtitles. 108m/ C VHS . FR Charlotte Gainsbourg, Simon de la Brosse, Didier Bezace, Raoul Billerey, Nathalie Cardone; D: Claude Miller; W: Annie Miller, Claude Miller; C: Dominique Chapuis; M: Alain Jomy.
