Leningrad Cowboys Go America
Leningrad Cowboys Go America ★★½ 1989 (PG-13)
An outlandish Finnish band, the Leningrad Cowboys, pack up their electric accordians and their one dead member and go on tour in America. With matching front-swept pompadours and pointy shoes, the group's appearance is the picture's best joke—and one of its only jokes, as the road trip plods in deadpan fashion that may bore viewers. It's best appreciated by fans of comic minimalist Jim Jarmusch (who has a guest role). In Finnish with English subtitles. 78m/C VHS . FI Matti Pellonpaa, Kari Vaananen, Sakke Jarvenpaa, Silu Seppala, Mauri Sumen, Mato Valtonen, Nicky Tesco, Jim Jarmusch; D: Aki Kaurismaki; W: Aki Kaurismaki; C: Timo Salminen; M: Mauri Sumen.
