How to Eat Fried Worms
How to Eat Fried Worms ★★½ 2006 (PG)
New kid in school tries to put the class bully in his place by meeting the challenge of eating 10 worms—each served up in increasingly creative but decidedly unappetizing ways—in one day without ralphing. The 1973 kid-lit classic of the same name by Thomas Rockwell is sliced and diced to fit its over-the-top big-screen rendering (really, what kids know their way around a kitchen like these do?). But with decent performances by the kiddie cast, it's bigtime grossout fun for the younguns, tied up with a positive (if equally barf-inducing) message about standing up for yourself—if you can get to the end without wretching, that is. 98m/C DVD .
