Farewell, My Lovely
Farewell, My Lovely ★★★ 1975 (R)
A remake of the 1944 Raymond Chandler mystery, “Murder, My Sweet,” featuring private eye Phillip Marlowe hunting for an exconvict's lost sweetheart in 1941 Los Angeles. Perhaps the most accurate of Chandler adaptations, but far from the best, this film offers a nicely detailed production. Mitchum is a bit too worldweary as the seenitall detective. 95m/C VHS, DVD . GB Robert Mitchum, Charlotte Rampling, Sylvia Miles, John Ireland, Anthony Zerbe, Jack O'Halloran, Harry Dean Stanton, Sylvester Stallone, Cheryl “Rainbeaux” Smith; D: Dick Richards; W: David Zelag Goodman; C: John A. Alonzo; M: David Shire.
