Diary of a Mad Black Woman
Diary of a Mad Black Woman ★★ 2005 (PG-13)
The critics spoke and the intended audience ignored every disparaging comment to make this soap opera a success. After an 18-year marriage, Helen (beautiful Elise) gets tossed out of her Atlanta mansion by nasty hubby Charles (Harris) for his longtime mistress, Brenda (Marcos). Weepy Helen flees to the home of her feisty grandmamma Madea (Perry in outrageous drag) and then learns to get her own back. She even finds a bluecollar prince in handsome, loving Orlando (Moore). Yep, it's a life-affirming, over-the-top fairytale with faith as the cornerstone. Perry plays two other roles as well as adapting the script from his play. 116m/C VHS, DVD .
