Bride of Chucky
Bride of Chucky ★½ 1998 (R)
Just when you thought you had seen the last of that creepy little doll, “Chucky” returns. This fourth installment in the “Child's Play” franchise finds Chucky back on the lam after being sprung from the pen by the ex-girlfriend of his former human incarnation, serial killer Charles Lee Ray. After killing his ex, Tiffany (Tilly), Chucky transforms her soul into an equally creepy girl doll. Together, they must make their way to the very spot where he was gunned down by police in order to transfer their souls back into human forms. Aside from Chucky and both incarnations of Tiffany, the rest of the characters are undeveloped and rather useless. Fortunately, the filmmakers knew not to take themselves too seriously, and managed a few funny moments. But its really only Tilly's excellent campy-vampy performance and an occasional clever jab from the Chuckster that lift this one above a woof. 89m/C VHS, DVD .
