Treble, Lillian M. (1854–1909)
Canadian philanthropist. Born Lillian Massey in 1854; died in 1909; daughter of H.A. Massey; married John Mill Treble.
Lillian M. Treble organized classes in domestic science which led to the adoption of a complete curriculum in household science in various women's colleges throughout Canada. She gave to Toronto University a handsome and spacious structure called the "Lillian Massey Household Science and Art Building," opened in 1913. In addition to numerous philanthropies in her lifetime, she bequeathed the greater part of a large fortune to charitable institutions.
