Greenaway, Margaret (fl. 15th c.)
English merchant. Flourished in England in the 15th century.
Although few records remain of Margaret Greenaway's life, it is clear that she was an active entrepreneur in England, during its emergence as a nascent industrial nation. She established herself as a businesswoman in the highly competitive area of international commerce. Her husband had been a dealer in biscuits and baked goods with the newly established East India Company; after his death, Margaret maintained the business and supported herself well for many years.
