Beckman-Shcherbina, Elena (1881–1951)

Russian pianist. Born in 1881; died in 1951; studied under Konstantin Igumnov.

A student of Konstantin Igumnov (1873–1948), Elena Beckman-Shcherbina was trained in the Russian School of virtuoso pianism. She was a highly respected artist who left behind an impressive recorded legacy of music by Anton Rubinstein, Sergei Rachmaninoff, and Alexander Scriabin. She knew Scriabin personally and frequently played his own music for him.
