voltmeter
voltmeter Instrument for measuring the voltage (potential difference) between two points in an electrical circuit. Voltmeters are always connected in parallel with the components whose voltages are being measured. A voltmeter has a high internal resistance compared with the resistance across which it is connected. See also ammeter
